The tricky part is finding ones with relatively decent flights. Look for the ones that involve about 13-15 hours of total travel time (including layovers) each way. There are still multiple stopovers each way, but it's actually fairly close to as fast as getting to Ketchikan can be done from Ottawa.
The typical bottom price to get to Alaska from Ottawa is about $800-$900 roundtrip after taxes.
It's also the off-season of course, as it doesn't get warmer in Alaska until June. It looks like the average high in April is 10C.
Looks like one of the most popular things to do around Ketchikan is kayaking.

Just a heads up that Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, United, and US Airways all look to be engaging in a bit of an unadvertised fare war to Phoenix. They've just dropped their prices throughout most of their schedule between August 2012 and all the way up to June 2013 !
