Low cost carrier Flair Airlines just announced they are pulling out of Abbotsford, BC (YXX) due to the extra competition from Swoop.
It looks like they're going to use these freshly freed up aircraft to operate flights from Ottawa (YOW) instead.
The Flair Airlines website isn't showing any flights from Ottawa yet, but I'm starting to see Ottawa - Halifax fares show up for $156 CAD roundtrip on various search engines.
And flights from Ottawa to Calgary or Edmonton for $265 CAD roundtrip.
Flair does not include a carry-on bag in their prices, only a personal item.
Vice-versa flights (Halifax or Calgary to Ottawa) are also available for a similar roundtrip price.
Update 2/19 - To compete with Flair, Air Canada has dropped the price of their July flights from Ottawa to Calgary down to $265 CAD roundtrip including taxes. Try Monday or Thursday departure dates, and Wednesday or Friday return dates, in July or early August.
You can also find Air Canada flights from Ottawa to Edmonton for $250 CAD roundtrip in July and the first half of August. Try Mon/Thu/Sat to Wed/Fri/Sat dates in July and the first half of August.
